BAVARIA

Church near the
Austrian border

We took a side road to look for a church Peter had recommended and, when we arrived there, a sevice was going on, so we didn't go in. I should have turned left and driven back the way we came. My sense of direction is not all it should be at times, and I turned right. The road narrowed to one lane and we realized that we were on the wrong road, but the view was great, so we kept on driving. The road narrowed even more and we were suddenly in a forest. Just as we decided we might be on a logging road, we came to a fork and a small sign on the right. We kept on driving, came out of the forest to a beautiful vista. A village, spread out over miles, with a little church high on a hill. It was at this moment that I wished I had a movie camera with me- no still pictures could ever do it justice.
